Royal Academy trained painter.Contemporary British Artist. Discover new paintings from my Shropshire Studio.
Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website.
I ‘m an artist living and working in the beautiful market town of Ludlow, in the heart of Shropshire.
For over thirty years I have been making paintings that celebrate the quiet beauty of the British landscape, gardens and the changing seasons.
Every painting begins with careful observation. Usually from a walk or the inspiration of a garden in full bloom or the changing light.
Much of my inspiration comes from the places I visit. I enjoy painting in Cornwall, the Lake District and wherever my travels take me, but I always find myself drawn back to the landscape around my home. Living in Ludlow is a constant source of subject matter for my art work. The rolling Shropshire Hills, winding rivers, ancient trees and changing seasons provide endless ideas and these landscapes often find their way into my paintings.
I trained in Britstol before graduating in Painting from the Royal Academy Schools in London in 1991. Over the years I’ve been fortunate to exhibit widely, with work selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the Mall Galleries in London, as well as receiving awards for my paintings.
Everything you see here is created using traditional techniques. I paint in oils on canvas or board and draw with pencil, charcoal and chalk on quality paper. I love the richness and the timelessness of these materials and the connection they create between artist and subject.
Whether you’re looking for an original painting for your home, collecting art, or simply enjoying a browse, I hope you’ll find something here that speaks to you.
My studio in Ludlow is open by appointment and I’d be delighted to welcome you. If you have any questions about a painting, would like to arrange a visit, or are interested in commissioning a piece, please get in touch using the contact page or by email.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you’ll find something enjoyable exploring my work.
Warm wishes,
Sally
